The Tax Institute welcomes Marg Marshall, CTA as President in 2023
SYDNEY, 23 January 2023: The Tax Institute is excited to announce that well-known tax expert Marg Marshall, CTA, will serve as President of the Institute for 2023.
Marg is a key figure in the tax profession, with over 25 years’ experience in tax advisory at a technical level. She is currently a Partner at WLF Accounting & Advisory in Hobart and advises clients, from individuals to large entities, specialising particularly in transaction and structuring advice, capital gains tax, not-for-profit tax concessions and deceased estates.
Marg served as Vice President of The Tax Institute in 2022 and her appointment as President for 2023 continues a vision to see the not-for-profit organisation continue to invest in its members’ experience. Marg will serve a 12-month term as President.
Marg says, ‘As an SME practitioner, I have personally benefited from the education, resources and networks that membership with The Tax Institute has provided me. This is especially important to our members who don’t have the “big firm” resources at their disposal. This is where the Institute can provide real value to our members. We have invested heavily in our digital presence and in the overall membership experience these past few years. I’m excited to pick up that legacy and explore further avenues for doing more of what we do best – supporting members, educating the tax profession and advocating for a more robust tax system.’

Marg has long been a supporter and contributor to the Institute community, as a regular presenter at events, chair of The Tax Summit Program Committee in 2022 and as a member of the Tasmanian State Council since 2013. New initiatives coming up under Marg’s presidency include the 2023 launch of Tax Academy micro credential learning and a new and improved experience in the Tax Knowledge Exchange database. 2023 also sees the return of popular Institute events including state Tax Forums around the country, the Financial Services Taxation Conference and National Infrastructure Conference.
