Not long ago Australia was far from the top contender amongst places in which you might choose to establish the holding company or regional headquarters of a multinational group. Our tax regime was decidedly uncompetitive, especially when compared to some of our Asian neighbours. But recently something quite remarkable has happened. Somewhere along the road of reform and treaty renegotiation we underwent a transformation.
