Maintaining competitiveness as an adviser means being across a broad range of tax issues and being up to date with recent developments. Recent changes to the ATO's position on unpaid present entitlements, the new Tax Agent Services Regime, the Bamford decision and the ATO's Decision Impact Statement, and the proposed new R&D rules as well as the effect of Division 7A on use of company assets will all immediately affect your clients. Also, tax aspects of rewarding SME owners and employees are particularly important as businesses look to extract profit and reward and retain key staff. You and your client will need to prepare and plan for these issues for the 2010/2011 financial year.

This seminar focused on each of these issues from an SME perspective, using case studies to practically demonstrate the issues.
