This session considered some of the common but challenging transactional issues that can arise when dealing with depreciating assets, having particular regard to the culmination of assets that have been subject to the temporary full expensing and instant asset write-off measures. The session also presented various planning tips for advisers when addressing these issues. Topics covered in this session included:

  • Balancing adjustments and the ticking time bomb
  • Price allocation issues for depreciating assets upon sale
  • “Double shuffle” dilemmas with pooled assets; and
  • What to consider for leased depreciating assets.
